Charities and Organisations We Support

Christchurch and Somerford Youth Centre Logo

We were introduced to this charity in 2019 through our work with Cash for Kids.

Through the efforts of mainly volunteers, this community centre which serves one of the country’s highest areas of deprivation, supports, feeds and entertains up to 300 local children per week – surviving entirely on grants and donations.

In addition to providing places for children to take part in the Poole Town soccer school days, the Trust were delighted to provide a grant of £2,500 to the Centre which was put towards the purchase of its own minibus.

C4K is a charity which devises and performs shows for free at children’s hospices.

Their shows are specially written and designed to be multi-sensory, interactive, fun and accessible – comprising singing, storytelling, puppetry and lots of silliness.

Their audiences are unique in the range of disabilities and their needs, from life-limiting illnesses to profound multiple learning difficulties. The only unifying factor is that they are unable to attend the theatre at this magical time of year, so they bring the theatre to them, to their families and their carers.

For the past 2 years we have provided funding to enable C4K to provide their show for free to 6 hospices in the south and west of England each year.

Mission Christmas - Cash For Kids

Mission Christmas

MISSION CHRISTMAS Cash For Kids (CFK) is Bauer Media’s national charity which operates across 22 areas around the UK. The southern region, which the GFT supports, covers Dorset, Hampshire, West Sussex, Surrey and the Isle of Wight. Bauer radio stations covering this area have included Wave 105, Fire , Magic & Absolute but as of 2024 have merged into Greatest Hits Radio.

The mission of each region of the charity is to respond to the needs of children in their local communities and they aspire to enable all children to live life to the full and achieve their individual potential.

Mission Christmas is one of the annual appeals CFK organise nationwide. The southern region organises one of the largest and most successful, regularly collecting, sorting and delivering over 60,000 donated gifts to 20-25,000 children and young adults living in poverty and hardship. Without these donations these youngsters would end up with no presents to open on Christmas day.

Julia's house logo

Julia’s House is a charity dedicated to supporting children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions living in Dorset and Wiltshire. The majority of these children are unlikely to live into adulthood. It provides frequent respite and end-of-life care in its hospices in Corfe Mullen and Devizes and in families’ own homes across the two counties. As well as caring for children it also supports parents and siblings.

Julia’s House looks after the whole family, not just the sick child.

Julia’s House receives just 5% of its total annual funding from the government, making it one of the worst-funded hospices in the UK. The charity relies on public fundraising and donations for 95% of its income.

Their mission:

To reach more children with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions and to set the gold standard in flexible, bespoke care that supports the whole family

Their vision:

For local families of life-limited and life-threatened children to be able to access the help they need, when and where they need it and for every member of the family to feel supported, valued, cherished.

The service that Julia’s House provides has been rated ‘outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission.
