News 2019

Below you will find information from 2019 about the projects and organisations we are supporting through the foundation.

CASH FOR KIDS’ ‘MISSION CHRISTMAS APPEAL 2019’

As in previous years the GFT’s main charitable donation has been to Wave 105’s annual appeal to provide deprived youngsters across Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight with Christmas presents.

During the past few years we have negotiated discounts with Sports Direct and have sought to take advantage of the discount sales offered by Sainsburys & WH Smith. By doing so we are able to purchase toys and gifts of anywhere between 20-50% of their usual retail price. This year, with the help of Andy White, owner of the Wholesale Clearance Warehouse in Poole, we have been able to increase the margin of discounts.

Knowing our objectives with the appeal, Andy contacted us on several occasions during the year with brand new job lots of merchandise available that were suitable to be given as gifts. Some of the things we bought through him this year were nearly 1,000 cool beanie hats and nearly 100 young adult watches – all at a fraction of the true retail value.

The result was that we were able to provide 2,574 gifts at a cost of just over £7,000 but with a retail value closer to £14,000.

In total 100,000 gifts were received in this year’s appeal which were gifted to 32,284 children who otherwise would not have had anything at Christmas.

IMG 1891GRANT AGREED FOR CHRISTMAS FOR KIDS

Once again we will be supporting C4K who perform a touring puppet show in children’s hospices throughout the UK in the month of December.

This year’s grant of £2,700 will enable the show to be performed in 6 hospices in the South and South-West of England, including Julia’s House in Broadstone, Poole.

Minibus Funding for CAYP

CAYP Minibus Funding Thank You LetterDear Richard

On behalf of the youth club and our members, I would like to thank you for your extremely generous donation of £2,500 towards the purchase of a 9-seater minibus for the centre.

The impact on us is by having a vehicle will be massive as we will be able to reduce the costs we incur on hiring vehicles and we will now be able to take smaller groups out on shorter journeys without the hassle of having to sort out vehicle hire.

For us it is so important and so incredibly helpful to have backers and supporters such as yourself who value the work we do and can help us with those much needed funds we need to raise to continue to improve life opportunities and create positive wellbeing for young people and their families.

Once again on behalf of our members and the community, thank you for your kind consideration in supporting us.

Yours sincerely
